Each mentee gets personalised support and honest advice to accelerate their growth – passing on the support that shaped one career to help build many more.

Why Step Up Sessions Exist

Because mentorship changed everything for me.

I wasn’t always in Procurement.  I was a “career changer” – before the first iPhone hit the market (I know, right?). But I got lucky. A seasoned Procurement Director saw potential in me and took me under his wing.  His mentorship didn’t just help my career – it changed my life.

In every role since, I’ve had people – some in Procurement, some in Finance, others from completely different walks of life – who’ve stepped in, taught me, challenged me and helped me grow.  I still have mentors today. One of them is a Procurement Unicorn – he probably doesn’t even realise the impact he’s had. Every conversation with him reminds me: there’s always more to learn.

Why did I create the Step Up Sessions? Simple: this is my way of paying it forward.

I know what it’s like to be new, uncertain, or ready to grow but not sure how. And I know the difference it makes when someone is willing to share their time, insight and hard-won lessons. If the guidance I’ve been lucky enough to receive helped shape one successful career – mine – imagine what it could do for others.

What does this mean for you? Everyone deserves access to mentorship that accelerates growth and opens up new possibilities. That’s what the Step Up Sessions are all about. No fluff. No filler. Just real-world advice, support and encouragement from someone who’s been where you are – and wants to help you go even further.

We’re not looking for perfect – just curious, committed people who are ready to grow.

Program Requirements and Time Commitment

Monthly Sessions: One 60-minute video call per month. (Audio-only is fine too – we get it, sometimes it’s early or after hours.)


Prep Work: 30 minutes before each session. This might include quick assignments, reflection exercises or jotting down your goals and challenges.

This isn’t meant to feel like homework – we’re all too mature for that. It’s designed to make our time together more valuable and keep the focus where it should be: on you.

How to apply

Applications open twice a year – in November (for a January start) and May (for a July start).

Tell us a bit about yourself, your goals, and why you’re passionate about procurement. We’ll select two mentees each round to join the Step Up Sessions family – and yes, we mean that.

Absolutely. Step Up Sessions is 100% free with no hidden costs or future obligations. It’s our way of giving back to the procurement community.

That’s perfectly fine – we’ve all been there.  Whether you’re transitioning from another field or just starting out, passion and commitment matter far more than experience, degrees, or the “perfect” resume. We’re here to help you build your procurement journey – no matter your starting point.

We’re looking for genuine passion and a thirst for knowledge.  You don’t need all the answers – just the curiosity to ask good questions, the courage to challenge what doesn’t make sense and the openness to take feedback on board. 

While the formal mentoring ends, you’ll always be part of the Step Up Sessions network. Many past mentees stay in touch, and we’re always up for a chat or happy to answer that cheeky question that pops up down the track.

Yes! We welcome applications for anywhere in the world.  All sessions are conducted via video calls, so location isn’t a barrier. 

The only catch? Time zones. Ours doesn’t always play nicely with others – so you’ll need to be a little flexible.

We ask for the full commitment up front – this program is designed as a journey, not a one-off. Both mentor and mentee put in real time and energy to make it work.
